Who We Are

Charlie Pitcher

Presenter

Charlie is either London’s leading jazz & funk sax-playing sommelier, or the UK’s first wine-qualified saxophonist - he hasn’t decided yet.

He’s been a gigg(l)ing musician for several years, having played at venues like the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and XOYO. But, spurred on by a desire to feel superior to his peers, he qualified as a sommelier in 2021.

He got a job presenting tastings several times a week, where he honed the art of using descriptors like “astringent” and “mellow”.

One morning, while frolicking in a meadow, he decided to take the best parts from his day and night jobs, and created Tasting Notes. The band was assembled within 20 minutes, and here we are.

Drummer and Events Manager

Dan Boulden-Hibbert

As an accomplished drummer and the backbone of Tasting Notes’ development and operations, Dan is both cool and important.

He is the most versatile drummer in the wine trade, having played with an array of original artists and bands all over the UK - his playing is now at its Tastiest.

Dan’s been a friend of Charlie’s since they did a three-legged race together in school, and they’ve been attached ever since. He now looks after our events’ practical and creative details with gusto.

He’s an asset to the TN house band and your cellar.

Alex Leith

Keyboards

Alex is half French, and lends a gracious hand with pronunciation at wine tastings. When he’s not doing quality control, he’s touring the world with the Michael Jackson tribute act. He hee.

Daniele Borgato

Bass

Daniele hails from Varese, near Milan, and has been a Londoner since 2012, playing stages all over the UK and touring the world. He also has a wealth of experience in musical theatre, so he’s used to working with double threats.
